[Understood “you”] tell them.

The “G.” The V.P. The barista. The trafficker. The vagabond. The esteemed. The prideful. Your best friend. And everyone else…

Whether it is your “love language” or not, we all need words of affirmation of some sort. We need to know we are worth it. We need to know we can do something, or not do something.

Hebrews 10:24 – “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds…”

1 Thessalonians 5:11 – “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up…”

Hebrews 3:13 – “But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”

This topic has recently swamped my mind from the result of conversations with friends, friends that sharpen me. What would happen if we determined to encourage that one person who is overwhelmed with pride. What? They don’t need any more reason to think much of themselves? Yeah right…. What would happen if we encouraged that one person who is _____ (fill in the blank).

Truett Cathy got it right when he said, “How do you know if a man needs encouragement? If he is breathing.”

Think of the last time you were truly encouraged by someone. Truly encouraged. I am so convicted to take this lens off myself (even though I sometimes think I deserve more spotlight than others) and magnify others. Magnify others so that they may feel the love of Christ and be spurred on toward love and good deeds.

It’s in the Word. It should be a part of me. It should be a part of us. Encourage someone today…the most unexpected person…
